WELLAND STEAM RALLY
29th - 31st July 2011

The Welland Steam and Country Rally is held every year over 3 days, on the last weekend in July.
The rally is organised by the Ross-on-Wye Steam Engine Society Ltd. The Rally first started in 1964 by a handful of Steam Engine enthusiasts in Ross-on-Wye and it has grown and developed since then. It is now one of the largest and most respected events of its type in the country. For many years the Rally was held in Ross, from there it moved to Much Marcle, then Upton, and in 1993 it finally settled on its own 100 acre site in Welland, Worcestershire.
The Rally promises a day(s) of nostalgia, sights, sounds, colour and movement for every member of the family as you take a trip down memory lane to the days when steam power reigned supreme on the roads, farm and fairground.

THREE CHOIRS FESTIVAL - WORCESTER
6th - 13th August 2011

The Three Choirs Festival, held each year since the early eighteenth century, and rotating between the three great cathedral cities of Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford, is one of the world’s oldest classical choral music festivals. This heritage has long established the festival as a firm fixture in the British music calendar and a must-visit for lovers of the great choral works from across Britain, Europe, America and Australasia.
The centre-piece within this week-long festival is the concert each evening in the cathedral, with programmes that combine the established favourites of the British classical choral tradition with works drawn from a broader, more international musical canvas, and supported by daytime programmes of chamber music, opera, theatre, organ recitals, talks, exhibitions and other events.
There is something for everyone at Three Choirs, so why not find out what all the excitement is about, and visit this unique annual event!

The theme for the 2011 event is Togetherness, which takes place the same weekend as the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Well-dressing normally takes place on the Friday of the May Day bank holiday weekend. However, because that is the day of the royal wedding, it will this year take place the day before, on Thursday, April 28.
The judging will take place that day, and the winning entries will be announced at the Fringe May Day event on Saturday, April 30. The decorations will remain in place until the following Tuesday.
The decorated wells and water features around Malvern have come to be quite an attraction in recent years, with maps being issued by the spa association, to allow visitors to see as many of them as they choose.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact Mr Sherstone on 01684 5600098 or welldressing@malvernspa.org.
